Women's health has come a long way, but as many of us can attest, too many women are still navigating their health with more questions than answers. PPF member Emma has experienced this firsthand, and it inspired her to do something about it.

Emma's Story
The idea for Lama started years before it became a reality, while I was going through a long and complex journey to motherhood. I experienced firsthand how targeted supplements, and a doctor who understood women's health, completely changed the path of my life.
The more I researched women's health, the more I realised how little investment has been made into it. In Australia, only 3.3% of national research funding goes to women-only conditions. Despite progress in recent times, particularly around better understanding menopause, women's health still remains grossly underfunded.
It is the women who are let down by this gap in understanding that Lama serves. Over time, as the business grows, we will invest into research for health conditions that disproportionately affect women, and charities supporting women who find themselves starting again later in life, with little super, after years spent raising children and putting their partner's careers first.

Behind the Formula
I began our product development with a hydration & creatine blend called Hydrate. Hydration is foundational to feeling well. When fluid is properly regulated at a cellular level, we have better energy, we think more clearly, and our digestion functions optimally. Emerging research into the benefits of creatine for women specifically, guided the inclusion of creatine monohydrate. Many health conditions later in life are linked to a reduction in muscle mass. Our natural stores of creatine deplete with age, and supplementing has been widely studied to improve muscle mass when taken regularly. Electrolytes also play an important role. They regulate how fluids and nutrients move through the body, supporting creatine uptake into muscle and brain tissue. Formulating them together made sense.
The final piece was taste, because none of the above matters if you don't take it. My formulator and I spent a long time on flavour development. How it was sweetened was important to me. It had to be natural, but many natural sweeteners like stevia have a strong chemical-like aftertaste. We landed on Thaumatin, which is a plant protein, and is friendly on the gut. It has a clean, natural flavour, with no aftertaste. Pineapple + Coconut is the crowd favourite so far, but Passionfruit + Orange is delicious as well.

As a member of PPF for almost 5 years, I am so proud to be able to have the opportunity to provide full-sized samples of each flavour to the PPF community to try. There is also a welcome offer/Free Express Shipping for your first order (no minimum spend) with the code FIRSTFREE. The website is www.lamawellness.com.au.
It means a lot to be able to share my brand and first product with a community I've been part of for so long. I hope you enjoy it.
